BIOILTES aims at developing bio-based ionic liquids (IL) to serve as innovative bio-based phase change materials (PCM), taking advantage of bio-based IL high energy storage capacity, high thermal stability, tuneable phase transition temperatures, and low vapor pressure properties. The tuneability of these materials can be used to optimize their thermal energy storage capacity and operational efficiency. Moreover, utilizing bio-based resources aligned with circular economy principles, will promote resource efficiency and minimizing waste. Ultimately, BIOILTES endeavours to contribute to the development of greener energy storage technologies, fostering a more sustainable and resilient energy infrastructure.
